The Brooklin Merchants defeated Ennismore 22-6 at home last Friday night at IPSC. Fast forward a few days and these teams were at it again this time at the Lakefield Arena. The Merchants added another two points to their record with a 15-6 win tonight, improving to 7-1 as the mid-point of the season arrives.

This season marks the 25th anniversary of this proud franchise and they are excited to host the Presidents Cup, emblematic of Canadian Senior B lacrosse supremacy, from August 23-30. As the hosts, they receive an automatic bye to the tournament but head coach Ryan Degerdon and assistant coach Mark Debrone both expect to go in as Ontario champions.

Tonight’s contest was an example of how the coaches have set up their to play. They have always told their players the value of wining each period. That message hit home as they bookended the game with a 5-2 win in the first and a 7-1 margin in the third, the middle frame ended 3-3 keeping the score somewhat close.
